Abstract

This research analyzes the reality of health indicators in Al Rifai General Hospital for the years 2013, 2018, and aims to detect the reality of these indicators in the study area and compare them with local and global health indicators and with the standards set by the World Health Organization in the evaluation of health systems.  In order to achieve this, the current research followed the descriptive, analytical and comparative approaches .The research has reached a set of results, the most important of which is the shortage in the competent and specialized medical staff and the big difference between them and the international and regional standards according to the indicators adopted in this field, by comparing the labor force rates in the health sector per 10000 inhabitants with the global indicators and indicators that have been determined.  In assessing the performance of health systems, there is a wide gap between the health situation in Iraq in general and Al-Rifai General Hospital in particular and the achievement of specializations which are experiencing a significant shortage in their numbers such as consultants approaching global indicators and for all occupations.  As indicated by the indicators of measuring the performance of the health workforce, there is an increase in the workload and its severity is shown in some, surgeons, anesthetists and other rare medical specialties, and an increase in these indicators from the global indicators indicate the imbalance between the number of doctors and the number of patients, which may lead to an imbalance in the ability of doctors working in the hospital and reduces their creativity and thus deterioration of medical services provided to patients.
