Abstract
The Lebanese poet Saeed Akl is considered one of the pioneers of modernity poetry in Lebanon and one of the most prominent Arab symbolist poets. He was famous for his support of the Lebanese identity and nationalism, and he was also supportive of the idea of speaking in the local Lebanese dialect. We will stop here on the dimensions of his poetic theory and its concept through his critical views that he put forward in The introductions of his poetry collections on what poetry is and its concept, and the entire poetic process of producer, recipient, and text in depth reflects the poet’s readiness and poetic culture, as well as his critical comparison between Arab artistic texts compared to European artistic texts, which is a comprehensive view that is not limited to poetry but rather goes beyond other literary arts. Like the theater, for example, which he called (Al-Marsah), in the introduction to his poetry collection (Magdalene), he focused the discussion on consciousness and the unconscious, and he singled out the issue of the unconscious with many opinions and ideas, and directed it to multiple destinations, making its source of knowledge, which is the basis of the poetic process, and he linked it directly to the mind. Moreover, it linked consciousness to the unconscious to make it a source for it, for the conscious mind is a guide to a deep culture and a conscious and intentional artistic orientation, and here it does not separate conscious writing from what is captivating.
