Abstract
Napoleon Bonaparte recognized that religion has a status and authority in the hearts of the audience of Europe , especially among famers and inhabitants of countryside in France and abroad. Therefore , he have a try to pull this spiritual power to his side , since the beginning of his reign , he attempted to create an agreement between the state and the church for remove the estrangement between them since the enactment of the Clergy Civil Law. On the other hand , by his agreement with the Clergy , he succeed to weaken the opponents of his rule.
Napoleon signed the Concordat of 1801 with Pope Pius VII after long talks , and he managed through this agreement for garnering support of Clergy and give his judgment legitimacy. While the Church kept its spiritual authority over the French people , then its economic power has crashed , because of that Napoleon seized all the territory of the Pope , which was under his authority for thousands of years ago , and these lands became property of this state.
