الملخص

After the Latin American countries gained their independence from Spain during the third decade of the nineteenth century, including the South American countries, the Spanish presence declined from the New World and there was a European contention to fill the vacuum left by Spain, which forced the United States to compete in European forces and compete To control the New World, especially as it has significant commercial interests in coastal areas on the Pacific coast of South America. So the United States intervened to mediate between Latin American countries to resolve conflicts between the conflicting parties, as happened in the war between Bolivia and Chile in 1879.

The Pacific War was one of the fiercest wars in South America in the 19th century. It fought Chile, Bolivia and Peru on the other hand because of the control of nitrate, which is an important export material used as soil fertilizer in Europe.
